Body found near Tukey’s Bridge, Portland police investigating

PORTLAND — Police recovered a body from the mud flats near the old Baked Beans Factory by Tukey’s Bridge on May 14 after receiving a call at 11:32 a.m. reporting a possible dead body.

Upon arrival, officers from the Portland Police Department secured the scene and recovered the body.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of death.

Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance with the case.

Investigators are encouraging anyone with information that may be helpful to contact the Portland Police Department at (207) 874-8575.

Additionally, information can be sent via text with the keyword PPDME and the message to 847411.

The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Police have not provided any details about potential suspects or arrests in connection with the discovery.

As the investigation continues, the Portland Police Department reminds the public that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
