SWANTON — A two-vehicle crash occurred Monday morning at the intersection of Highgate Rd. (VT 207) and Bushey Rd., resulting in minor injuries for both drivers.

At 5:13 a.m., Vermont State Police, Swanton Fire Department, Missisquoi Valley Rescue, and AmCare responded to the scene.

According to the investigation and witness statements, Alton Romero, 75, of Montgomery, was driving a 2017 Ford F150 and attempted to turn left from Bushey Rd. onto Highgate Rd. heading south.

Romero’s vehicle failed to yield to a northbound 2017 Ford Taurus driven by a juvenile.

The vehicles collided and came to rest in the front yard of 2650 Highgate Rd.

Both drivers, who were wearing seat belts, sustained minor injuries and were transported to Northwestern Medical Center.

The crash caused front-end damage to both vehicles and led to the closure of one lane of Highgate Rd. while the vehicles were removed.

The weather was sunny and clear, and the road conditions were dry at the time of the accident.
