Shaftsbury woman charged with aggravated domestic assault

SHAFTSBURY — Vermont State Police arrested a local woman on charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault following a disturbance on East Rd on May 12.

Melissa Brown, 45, allegedly caused serious bodily injury to a family member during the incident.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 9:46 a.m. after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance.

Brown was issued conditions of release and is scheduled to appear in Bennington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on May 13 at 12:30 p.m. to answer to the offense.

The Vermont State Police have not released the name of the victim, in line with their policy on incidents of domestic violence and sexual assault.
