Police arrest driver after high-speed chase through Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH — Master Patrolman Jesse Byam attempted to stop a 2007 Mazda CX-7 on Granite Street near Wilton Road this afternoon, leading to a high-speed chase.

The vehicle continued down Granite Street, onto Main Street, Elm Street, and River Street, and back out onto Main Street.

Chief Guinard, Lieutenant Xenakis and Sergeant Sweeney responded to Byam’s location as the vehicle continued onto Concord Street traveling northbound.

School Resource Officer Hyland set up near ConVal Regional High School after hearing the radio traffic.

The vehicle made a U-turn near ConVal and traveled southbound on Concord Street back towards town.

Lieutenant Xenakis deployed spike strips near 174 Concord Street.

The vehicle took an immediate left onto Parmalee Drive and eventually stopped in the parking lot of Monadnock Community Hospital.

The driver, Mario Cruz, born April 2, 1995, was taken into custody.

Cruz is being held on preventive detention for multiple felonies and misdemeanors and is awaiting arraignment at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester.

The Peterborough Police Department reported no injuries or vehicle damage.
