Panton woman charged with burglary, unlawful mischief after crashing car, breaking into home

PANTON — A woman was charged with burglary and unlawful mischief following a break-in at a Panton residence after crashing her vehicle nearby on May 12.

Amanda Wildasin, 40, of Vergennes, allegedly forced her way into the home after being involved in an accident.

The homeowners discovered Wildasin inside their residence upon their return.

Vermont State Police from the New Haven Barracks, along with the Vergennes Police Department, Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, and Bristol Rescue, responded to the incident.

Wildasin was transported from the scene by rescue personnel and later issued a citation to appear at the Addison County Superior Court-Criminal Division on Aug. 26 at 12:30 p.m.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
