Boston police recover firearm after breaking and entering call in Dorchester

BOSTON –– Officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested a 16-year-old juvenile male on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of Wrentham Street and Florida Street for a report of a group of teenagers breaking into motor vehicles.

Officers observed the group of individuals matching the description in the area of 82 Wrentham Street.

Officers exited their cruiser and advised the group of the reason for the stop.

Officers conducted a pat frisk of the individuals and recovered a firearm from one of the suspects.

Officers placed all the suspects into handcuffs and recovered two loose rounds of ammunition in the suspect’s jacket pocket as well.

The firearm was later determined to be a Ruger .22 LR Model SR 22 with an obliterated serial number.

The firearm was loaded with one round in the chamber and three rounds in the magazine.

The 16-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of a firearm, delinquent to wit; unlawful possession of ammunition, and delinquent to wit; defacement of a firearm serial number.

The 16-year-old is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

The remaining individuals were promptly released.
