Driver cited for DUI after Barnet crash

BARNET — Vermont State Police responded to a report of a vehicle crash at 1644 Barnet Center Road on May 11 at 8:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, troopers found a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado approximately 50 yards off the roadway in a field.

The operator, Jeffrey Grant, 55, of Groton, exhibited signs of impairment.

According to the authorities, Grant had driven the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, hit a mailbox, and then crashed.

Grant was wearing his seat belt, and there were no injuries reported.

The vehicle sustained minor damage.

After the investigation, Grant was arrested and taken to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.

He is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on May 20 at 8:30 a.m. to face DUI charges.
