Auburn mall disturbance leads to juvenile investigations, no firearms found

AUBURN — Multiple calls about a potential armed confrontation between two groups of juveniles at the Auburn Mall prompted a swift response from the Auburn Police Department on May 11.

According to officials, the incident occurred just before 3 p.m. at the shopping center located at 385 Southbridge St. Initial reports suggested the possibility of firearms involved, leading to heightened concern.

Upon arrival, officers were able to identify and detain several of the individuals involved, as well as a vehicle linked to the incident.

A thorough search and review of mall security footage concluded that no firearms were present during the altercation.

The parties in question were confirmed to be juveniles from Worcester.

They were taken into custody for questioning by the Detective Bureau.

Following interviews and parental notification, the juveniles were released.

Authorities stated that charges are pending, but no further details will be disclosed due to the age of the suspects.

Investigators are now reaching out to the public for additional evidence.

The department assures that tips can be submitted anonymously.
