New Haven crash leaves motorcycle rider with serious injuries, cars totaled

NEW HAVEN — A collision between a car and a motorcycle on Ethan Allen Highway left one person with serious injuries and both vehicles totaled on May 8.

At around 6:18 p.m., Vermont State Police responded to numerous 911 calls reporting a crash with injuries at 3629 Ethan Allen Highway.

The crash investigation indicated that Michelle McCauley, 61, of New Haven, driving a 2022 Chevrolet Bolt northbound, was turning left into a parking lot when Benjamin Krans, 35, of Sudbury, approached on a southbound lane riding a 2006 Yamaha YZF-R6.

Krans, who was wearing a helmet, collided with McCauley’s car on a blind curve, causing both vehicles to veer off the road.

McCauley, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed.

Krans was ejected from the motorcycle, landing through a fence, and was transported to Porter Medical Center with suspected serious injuries.

The New Haven Fire Department, Middlebury Rescue, and Snow & Tow Towing assisted at the scene.
