Mendon crash leaves five severely injured, including four children

MENDON — A single-vehicle crash on US RT 4 resulted in severe injuries for a Rutland woman and four juvenile passengers on May 9.

Denise J. Hill, 36, was driving a 2016 Nissan Frontier eastbound near Medway Rd. when her vehicle left the roadway and crashed into an embankment around 9:08 a.m., according to Vermont State Police.

The weather was cloudy and cool with clear but wet road conditions.

Hill, who was not wearing a seatbelt, and her passengers, ages 3, 7, 9, and 11, were transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center before being moved to the University of Vermont Medical Center for further treatment.

The vehicle was reported as totaled.

Responding to the scene along with Vermont State Police were Regional Ambulance Service and Rutland City Fire Department.
