Colchester police arrest man wanted for assault, robbery at local motel

COLCHESTER — Officers from the Colchester Police Department arrested a man wanted on an assault and robbery charge after responding to a disturbance at a local motel early Thursday morning.

At about 12:27 a.m., police were patrolling near Motel 6 at 74 South Park Drive when they were alerted to loud noises, banging, and yelling coming from the third floor.

The commotion was found to be a verbal altercation between two motel residents.

One of the individuals involved was identified as Andrew Coyle, 30, who had an outstanding arrest warrant from Chittenden County.

The female occupant of the room initially refused to allow officers entry to search for Coyle.

After obtaining a search warrant, police entered the room and apprehended Coyle at approximately 2:33 a.m. without incident.

He was subsequently lodged at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.

The Colchester Police Department received assistance from the Winooski Police Department during the incident.
