Police: Body found in Piscataqua River linked to earlier incident

NEWINGTON— New Hampshire State Police launched a death investigation Friday afternoon after a body was discovered in the Piscataqua River near Fox Point Road.

At approximately 4:50 p.m., the Newington Police Department alerted state police to the presence of a body in the river by Fox Point Road and Windswept Way.

Marine Patrol, Troop A, and Newington Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and recovered the body of an adult male.

The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and to determine the cause and manner of death.

Preliminary findings suggest the death is not suspicious and poses no threat to the public.

Investigators believe the deceased is linked to an April 10 incident on the Interstate 95 high-level bridge in Portsmouth.

The investigation remains active, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could aid the case.
