COLCHESTER — A male pedestrian was killed after being hit by several vehicles on Interstate 89 near mile marker 92 on May 6 at about 8:55 p.m., Vermont State Police reported.

The victim, identified as 38-year-old Bhim Jogi of Colchester, was lying in the travel lane close to the white fog line when he was struck by two passenger cars and a tractor-trailer.

Jogi was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the passenger cars stopped immediately following the incident and have been cooperating with authorities.

State Police are now seeking information about the tractor-trailer and its operator, who has not yet been located.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the drivers could not see Jogi due to his dark clothing and the absence of light at the time, and no criminal charges are expected to be filed against the drivers who remained at the scene.

The ongoing investigation has prompted the transportation of Jogi’s body to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination.

State Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Williston Barracks at 802-878-7111.

Local Police, Fire, and Rescue teams provided assistance at the site of the tragic incident.
