Manchester fire department quickly extinguishes car blaze on School Street

MANCHESTER BY THE SEA — A car fire on School Street was promptly extinguished by the Manchester by the Sea Fire Department on Thursday evening after emergency services were alerted to the incident.

The North Shore Regional 911 Center received a call at 5:33 p.m. and immediately notified both the Manchester Fire and Manchester by the Sea Police Department.

Firefighters from Group 2, who were on duty, responded to the scene at 26 School Street and were able to quickly put out the fire, confining damage to the single vehicle involved.

Following the incident, School Street, which had been closed to traffic, was reopened.

No injuries have been reported, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
