Worcester man arrested for illegal firearm possession

WORCESTER — Officers from the Worcester Police Department’s Crime Gun Intelligence Unit arrested a 19-year-old man on May 7 for illegal possession of a firearm after a traffic stop on Ellsworth St.

At approximately 7:10 p.m., officers observed a vehicle failing to use a turn signal when turning onto Ellsworth St. from Harding St. The driver, identified as Jonathan Colon of Endicott St., was unable to provide identification and made suspicious movements inside the vehicle.

Upon searching the area where Colon reached, officers discovered what appeared to be a handgun.

During the encounter, a male juvenile passenger fled the vehicle but was apprehended shortly after hiding in a shed on Canton St.

Colon, who does not possess a firearm license, faces multiple charges, including Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.

Both individuals were taken into custody without further incident.
