PUTNAM — A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Kennedy Drive and Bridge Street resulted in injuries and traffic infractions on May 7.

Members of the Putnam Police, Fire Department, and Putnam EMS were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:29 p.m. after reports of an entrapped driver due to the crash.

The investigation indicated that Jordan Hidalgo, driving a 2014 Nissan Maxima, was traveling south on Kennedy Drive at an excessive speed when attempting a right turn onto Bridge Street.

Hidalgo failed to make the turn, lost control, and collided with a 2024 Toyota Tundra that was stopped at the traffic signal on Bridge Street.

Fire Department personnel extricated the female operator of the Toyota, who was then transported to Day Kimball Hospital by Putnam EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hidalgo was treated on-site for minor injuries, and his passenger reported no injuries.

Both vehicles were towed due to damage sustained in the collision, and the intersection was temporarily closed.

Jordan M. Hidalgo, of 426 Sabin Street, received an infraction for traveling unreasonably fast and making an improper right turn.

Witnesses to the accident are urged to contact Officer Chip Carney at (860) 928-6565.
