BOSTON — A Hyde Park man was arrested Tuesday night on firearm charges after a shot spotter activation in Mattapan led police to a loaded revolver, according to the Boston Police Department.

Around 9:18 p.m., officers assigned to District B-3 responded to 33 Edgewater Drive where the shot spotter system detected four gunshots.

Upon arrival, they came across a vehicle accident and provided medical assistance.

During their response, officers noticed a man drinking an alcoholic beverage nearby.

When questioned about the incident, the man, identified as Rircardo Marcelin, 36, became evasive and appeared to be clutching a weighted crossbody bag.

A pat frisk turned into a struggle as Marcelin resisted, but officers were able to detain him and discovered a loaded RG Revolver with four live rounds and one spent shell casing in his bag.

Marcelin has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

He is scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester District Court.
