Pittsford man escapes injury after vehicle hydroplanes, strikes tree on US RT 7

PITTSFORD — A single-vehicle crash on US RT 7 near Kendall Hill Road resulted in major vehicle damage but no injuries on May 5, according to Vermont State Police.

Eric Patrick, 39, of Rutland, was traveling southbound in his 2017 Ram 1500 when he attempted to pass another vehicle amidst cloudy and rainy conditions.

While passing, Patrick’s truck hydroplaned on the wet road, causing him to lose control.

The vehicle veered off the west side of the highway and collided with a tree, sustaining significant damage to its rear left side and tailgate.

It came to rest in a field off the road.

State troopers from the Rutland Barracks, who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident at approximately 3:38 p.m., reported that Patrick was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and did not suffer any injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
