Boston police capture most wanted suspect on outstanding warrants

BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a man Sunday afternoon who was featured on the department’s Most Wanted list in connection with multiple violent crimes.

At about 3:17 p.m. on May 5, Boston police assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) apprehended 26-year-old Stanley Vargas of Boston.

The arrest took place in the vicinity of 8 Clifford Street after officers recognized Vargas and confirmed there were outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Vargas was wanted on charges stemming from incidents in the Dorchester District, including assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and armed robbery.

His recent inclusion on the BPD Most Wanted List brought additional attention to the search.

Following his arrest, Vargas is scheduled to be arraigned at the Roxbury District Court, where the charges will be formally presented.

The Boston Police Department has not released further details about the arrest or the crimes associated with the warrants.
