Woman arrested on DUI charges after Rupert crash

RUPERT — Vermont State Police arrested a West Pawlet woman on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle accident late Thursday night.

Troopers responded to a report of a crash at approximately 10:44 p.m. on Vermont Route 30 in Rupert, where they found a vehicle operated by 37-year-old Melissa Genovart.

During the investigation, police observed signs of impairment.

Genovart was taken into custody and processed at the Manchester Police Department.

She was subsequently released on citation and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on May 20 at 8:15 a.m. to face DUI charges.
