NCUHS varsity baseball stages dramatic comeback, defeats Enosburg 5-4

NEWPORT — In a thrilling finish, the Varsity baseball team overcame a four-run deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 5-4 victory over Enosburg on Saturday afternoon.

The game-winning moment came when Jose Sanchez executed a perfectly timed bunt that allowed Hunter Wells to score the decisive run.

Tate Parker, Zak Fortin, Zach Griffith, and Wells each contributed hits during the critical seventh inning rally. The team is set to face Mt. Abraham on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

In other sports news, the JV baseball team dominated Enosburg with a 14-0 shutout on Saturday. Tripp Roberge led the offense, going 4-for-4 with four singles and scoring four times. Zak Fortin also shone brightly, hitting 3-for-4, including two doubles and scoring three runs. The JV team will next play at Randolph on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Varsity softball team faced a tough game against Enosburg, losing 4-0. Despite the loss, Tyra Scelza and Gabi Griffith managed to secure hits. The team looks forward to their next game, hosting Harwood on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

The JV softball team also struggled, falling 18-1 at Enosburg on Saturday. Peyton Fortin’s RBI double was a highlight in an otherwise challenging game. The JV squad will have a chance to rebound in their upcoming game against Randolph on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
