Waterville crews battle blaze at Front Place building, all occupants safe

1 min read

WATERVILLE — Firefighters from Waterville and neighboring departments swiftly responded to a report of a building fire at 6 Front Place early this morning.

Upon arrival, the crews encountered heavy fire emanating from the rear of the structure.

Complicating the response, live power lines had fallen into an alleyway behind the building, creating a significant hazard and obstructing access for both firefighters and individuals attempting to evacuate.

The electricity to the vicinity was promptly cut off to ensure safety until workers from Central Maine Power (CMP) could arrive to secure the downed lines.

Despite the initial challenges, all occupants of the building were able to evacuate without harm, and firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is now involved to assist with the investigation into the cause of the fire.

Authorities have extended their gratitude to the Waterville Police Department, Waterville Regional Communications Center (WRCC), CMP, and the mutual aid fire departments for their crucial support during the incident.
