Newington police investigate after body found in Piscataqua River

NEWINGTON — A death investigation is underway after a body was discovered in the Piscataqua River on Thursday.

Newington Police Department alerted the Marine Patrol unit of the New Hampshire State Police to a body spotted near Fox Point Road and Windswept Way just before 5 p.m.

First responders, including Marine Patrol, Troop A, and the Newington Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene where an adult male was recovered from the river.

The body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and to determine the cause and manner of death.

Preliminary evidence suggests the death is not suspicious and there is no perceived threat to the community.
