Man arrested for trespassing, vandalism in Eden

EDEN — Vermont State Police apprehended a man accused of unlawfully entering two homes and causing property damage on the evening of May 3.

Authorities were called to a residence on VT Route 100 near Lake Eden Recreational Area around 10:15 p.m. following reports of a break-in.

The suspect, later identified as Eric Willey, 37, of Hyde Park, allegedly forced entry into an occupied home and then proceeded to enter a neighboring dwelling.

The Vermont State Police, assisted by the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department and Morristown Police Department, found Willey inside the second residence.

An investigation indicated that Willey had intentionally kicked in the front door of the first home, resulting in damage.

Willey was arrested and taken to the Morrisville Police Department for processing.

After processing, he was released with an order to appear at the Lamoille County Superior Court on May 6 at 12:30 p.m. to respond to two counts of Unlawful Trespass of an Occupied Dwelling and one count of Unlawful Mischief.
