New Bedford man arrested with cocaine, firearm

NEW BEDFORD — A local man was taken into custody following a narcotics investigation that led to the seizure of cocaine and a firearm, the New Bedford Police Department announced Monday.

Detective Nathaniel Almeida concluded his probe into a cocaine delivery service on April 24, which resulted in executing a search warrant at an apartment on 341 North St. The target of the investigation, 40-year-old Brandon Delgado, was found with 345 grams of cocaine and packaging materials.

In addition, Delgado was in possession of a .38 special revolver with ammunition.

Delgado faces charges of trafficking cocaine over 200 grams and possession of a firearm and ammunition without a license.

He has a significant criminal history with 36 adult arraignments and a prior conviction for cocaine distribution in 2006 from Boston Federal Court.

At the time of the recent arrest, Delgado had three open felony cases in Fall River District Court.

Currently, Delgado is being held without bail at the Dartmouth House of Correction.
