NORWALK — Following a severe crash and subsequent fire earlier today, the Darien CT Police Department announced that a section of Interstate 95 will remain shut down in both directions until at least Monday, May 6.

The closure affects a significant portion of the interstate, a key thoroughfare for commuters and travelers in the region.

Authorities are advising the public to utilize mass transit options and to refrain from non-essential travel in the area over the next several days as crews work on cleanup and investigation efforts.

Traffic on I-95 is being rerouted, with northbound vehicles being diverted off at exit 14 and southbound traffic at exit 15.

Local roads are expected to experience increased congestion as a result.

The Darien CT Police Department is asking those who need to use the local roads during this period to exercise patience, drive carefully, and allow additional time to reach their destinations.

Further updates on the situation will be provided as they become available.
