Rhode Island task forces arrest three on charges, including murder and drug possession

PROVIDENCE — Members of law enforcement task forces in Rhode Island made multiple arrests on May 1, targeting crimes from murder to drug trafficking.

The Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Ronald Steele, 52, of East Providence, on a Providence Superior Court Bench Warrant for violating a suspended sentence related to a murder charge.

Steele was processed and handed over to court officials.

In a separate case, Thavisouk Malichansy, 54, of Providence, was apprehended by the Gaming Enforcement Unit on two Third District Court Bench Warrants for failing to appear in court.

The charges against Malichansy, stemming from the Lincoln Police Department, include willful trespass.

Malichansy was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and arraigned in Third District Court.

Additionally, the HIDTA Task Force took Peter Cosme, 42, of Johnston, into custody on various drug charges, including possession with the intent to deliver fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana.

After processing at the Lincoln Barracks, Cosme was specially arraigned and transferred to the ACI Intake Center, awaiting a morning arraignment in Third District Court.
