Westbrook police swiftly apprehend shooting suspect

WESTBROOK — A team of Westbrook police officers and detectives received the department’s Unit Citation for their rapid response and arrest of a suspect involved in a shooting on May 10.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., Westbrook Police were dispatched to Bridge Street following reports of gunfire.

Officers on the scene confirmed the shooting incident and summoned detectives and investigators to assist with the case.

Detective Sergeant Tim Gardner, Sergeant Joel Loranger, Detective Jeff Stackpole, Evidence Technician Andy York, Investigator Doug Maher, Officer Nick Wrigley, Detective Evan Haskell, and Officer Kerry Clark worked together to swiftly identify a suspect.

The information was immediately shared with surrounding law enforcement agencies, leading to the suspect’s location in Lewiston.

Within an hour and a half, by 4 a.m., the suspect and other individuals involved were taken into custody.

The collaborative effort of the Westbrook police resulted in the suspect’s arrest on charges of Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon.
