Auburn teen found safe after reported missing

AUBURN — A 17-year-old boy reported missing on April 29 has been found safe, the Auburn Police Department announced today.

Joshua Smith was last seen around 3 p.m. near the intersection of Valview Drive and Garfield Road.

Smith, who stands 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 130 pounds, was experiencing mental health issues and left his home in a distressed state.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and dark pants.

Authorities had asked for the public’s assistance in locating Joshua and provided a description and a photo to aid in the search.

The Auburn Police Department expressed its gratitude to everyone who shared information and helped look for Joshua.

The police have not released details about where or how Joshua was found but confirmed that he is now safe.

They are reminding the community to reach out to authorities with any concerns about missing individuals.
