The North Country Falcons won the 2023 Vermont State Division II Football Championship by defeating the Colchester Lakers 21-14 in November last year at Rutland High School.

The Falcons, who were ranked second, ended a 26-year title drought with their victory thanks to Watson Laffoon’s game-winning touchdown and a crucial fumble recovery by Evan Ballinger in the final seconds of the game.

During their visit, the team, guided by their coaches, toured the State House and took a commemorative photo with Governor Scott and the representatives.
