Driver injured after swerving for moose in Essex County

MAIDSTONE — A New Hampshire man sustained possible concussion injuries early Monday morning after his vehicle crashed on Vt Route 102.

Dylan Carney, 27, of Clarksville, was driving northbound around 5:31 a.m. when he attempted to avoid a moose, causing him to lose control of his 2018 Chevrolet Trax.

The vehicle crossed into the opposing lane and came to a stop in the southbound ditch, according to Vermont State Police.

Stratford Fire Department and Groveton EMS responded to the scene to assist Carney, who was wearing his seatbelt during the crash.

He was transported by ambulance to Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, NH, for evaluation.

The Chevrolet sustained significant damage to the driver’s side front wheel and fender and was towed from the scene by Caledonia Wrecker Service.
