Driver charged with DUI after rollover crash in New Haven

NEW HAVEN — A 74-year-old local woman was charged with DUI and negligent operation of a vehicle following a rollover accident on North Street on April 28.

Janet Hood, of New Haven, was traveling south on North Street when her vehicle, a 2016 Nissan Sentra, veered off the road and struck a tree before overturning onto its side.

The incident occurred just north of Vermont Route 17 East at approximately 9:57 a.m.

Troopers who responded to the scene detected signs of drug impairment in Hood, who was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.

She sustained suspected minor injuries and was transported to Porter Medical Center for treatment.

The Nissan Sentra was totaled in the crash.

Hood has since been cited to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, to respond to the charges.

Law enforcement officials, including members of the Vergennes Police Department, Bristol Rescue Squad, and the New Haven Fire Department, assisted at the scene.
