Troopers make multiple arrests for DUI, reckless driving, and warrants in Providence

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Troopers have arrested three individuals on separate charges following traffic stops in Warwick and Providence.

At 11:13 a.m., troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks apprehended Malik Gomes, 27, of Pawtucket, for reckless driving and other public safety offenses during a stop on Route 95 North in Warwick.

Gomes was processed at the barracks, arraigned, and released with a summons for Third Division District Court.

Later, at 12:32 a.m., Edwin D. Gomez-Aguilar, 25, of Providence, was arrested for driving under the influence of liquor—second offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test—first offense after a stop on Whitehall Street in Providence.

Gomez-Aguilar was taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, arraigned, and released into the care of a responsible adult with a notice to appear in Sixth Division District Court.

Early in the morning at 4:10 a.m., Juan Mazariegos Deleon, 20, was detained on multiple charges including obstructing a police officer and several bench warrants related to failure to appear for pre-trial conferences for possession of a stolen motor vehicle from various jurisdictions.

The arrest occurred after a stop on Elmwood Avenue in Providence.

Deleon was held overnight at the barracks pending a morning arraignment as a bail violator.
