1 min read

ENFIELD — Early this morning, Enfield police officers responded to a reported larceny in progress, with the suspect fleeing into a nearby wooded area.

Upon arrival, officers quickly coordinated to form a perimeter around the area.

A drone pilot from the department deployed the drone, while a K9 unit was dispatched to assist in the search.

Utilizing the drone’s thermal imaging capabilities, the pilot identified a heat signature consistent with the suspect’s last known position in the thicket.

As K9 Dunkin arrived and started tracking, the drone pilot observed the heat signature moving, indicating the suspect’s attempt to relocate.

The coordinated effort led to K9 Dunkin tracking the suspect to a spot where officers and backup could observe the individual without being detected.

The suspect was then commanded to exit the woods and subsequently apprehended without incident.
