EASTHAM — A brush fire accompanied by a structure fire on Locust Road and Colony Way prompted a significant response from Eastham Fire Department and mutual aid partners Saturday afternoon.

Officials quickly called a second alarm, necessitating additional manpower to tackle the simultaneous blazes.

One individual was transported from the scene with injuries described as non-life threatening.

The identity and current condition of the injured civilian have not been disclosed.

Authorities took the incident as an opportunity to remind residents of the proper protocol during emergencies, urging them to call 911 for immediate assistance.

The firefighting efforts were bolstered by several neighboring departments, including Orleans, Harwich, Brewster, Chatham, Dennis, Truro, Yarmouth, and Wellfleet fire departments.

The Eastham Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office Communications, and the Eastham Department of Public Works also provided support during the operation.

The cause of the fires is under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
