Worcester police arrest teen in fatal shooting of 14-year-old

WORCESTER — Worcester Police Department detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy in the lower Belmont St neighborhood on April 26, officials said.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., officers responded to a call about a possible shooting victim at a local residence.

Upon arrival, they found the young teen with a severe gunshot wound.

Despite immediate medical attention from the officers, the victim was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Following the initial response, detectives took over the investigation, which led to the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect in the early hours of April 27, around 12:15 a.m., in connection with the shooting.

The Worcester Police Department is continuing its inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
