Wilmington police seek information on suspicious person involved in attempted kidnapping

WILMINGTON — Wilmington Police Department is on alert after a reported attempted kidnapping on Tuesday evening.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., authorities were notified of a Be On the Lookout (BOL) alert regarding a suspicious person possibly involved in an attempted kidnapping earlier that day.

According to the reports, a child was approached by an individual while along VT Route 100.

The individual, described as a blond-haired woman wearing red lipstick, allegedly tried to lure the child into a black Buick SUV.

The child did not comply with the individual’s request and later reported the incident to a responsible adult.

The vehicle, described as a new model and black in color with unknown Vermont license plates, was last seen heading south on VT Route 100.

Wilmington Police Department is actively seeking any information related to this incident and encourages anyone who can assist in the investigation to come forward.
