Maine State Police: Body found in Aroostook River identified as Washburn man

CARIBOU — The body discovered on the banks of the Aroostook River between the dam and Fort Street on Tuesday has been identified as 39-year-old Erik Foote of Washburn, according to the Maine State Police.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the identification but noted that the cause and manner of Foote’s death are still under investigation.

While the findings are pending, the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office continues to lead the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Foote’s death.

Local authorities have not released additional details at this time.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
