WORCESTER — Worcester Police officers from the Neighborhood Response Team arrested 21-year-old John Slater, who had nine outstanding warrants, after spotting him with a stolen vehicle on April 24.

At around 6:35 p.m., officers located a stolen motor vehicle at the intersection of Shrewsbury St and Imperial Road and observed Slater approaching the vehicle.

As he used a key to open the driver’s side door, officers attempted to apprehend him.

Slater resisted arrest, engaging in a violent struggle with the officers before being taken into custody.

Slater is charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and related to his existing warrants.

Previously, he was involved in an incident where he is accused of intentionally ramming a Massachusetts State Police cruiser and is known for fleeing from law enforcement.
