Two-car crash on Route 9 in Woodford leaves one with injuries

WOODFORD — A two-vehicle collision on Vermont Route 9 near Woodford City Road resulted in minor injuries for one passenger on April 25.

Vermont State Police reported that at 12:03 p.m., Roy Squiers, 72, of Woodford was driving a 2014 Honda Pilot when he attempted to turn left onto Route 9 from a private driveway and failed to yield to an oncoming 2014 Acura MDX driven by Roberta Slater, 83, of West Wardsboro.

The passenger side of Squiers’ vehicle was struck by the driver side of the Slater’s vehicle.

Although both drivers were wearing seatbelts and did not report any injuries, Donald Slater, 83, a passenger in the Acura and also a West Wardsboro resident, sustained minor injuries.

He was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center by the Bennington Rescue Squad.

According to authorities, the weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
