West Haven police apprehend shooting suspect after pursuit

WEST HAVEN — A suspect involved in a West Haven shooting is now in custody following a police chase that ended in Stratford, authorities said.

The West Haven Police Department confirmed that the individual was apprehended with the aid of the Connecticut State Police and Stratford Police after locating the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The arrest followed an earlier incident where police responded to a report of a person shot on Coleman Street.

Officers found one individual with a single gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials stated that the shooting appeared to be an isolated event and assured the public that there is no further threat.

As the investigation is ongoing, the West Haven Police Department has not released additional details at this time.
