Portland police arrest man after shots fired on Preble Street

PORTLAND — Portland Police responded to a report of shots fired at the intersection of Preble and Somerset streets on April 21 at 7:06 p.m. Officers arrived on the scene promptly and identified a male suspect who matched the description provided.

Thirty-eight-year-old Joshua Young of Westbrook was detained after the police found a firearm in close proximity to where he was apprehended.

Young faces charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person and Aggravated Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are appealing to the public for additional information that could aid in this case or others.
