Portland police arrest man after foot chase, seize gun and drugs

PORTLAND — Following a suspected drug transaction, an 18-year-old man was arrested on Saturday after a foot chase by Portland police.

Officers on patrol observed what appeared to be a drug deal at 4:32 p.m. near 55 Portland Street.

When they attempted to intervene, the suspect fled on foot, leading to a pursuit that concluded close to 58 Alder Street.

The individual, identified as Cole Swan from Yarmouth, was apprehended and is now facing charges including Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs and Refusing to Submit to Arrest/Detention.

Police reported finding Swan in possession of two grams of cocaine base and a loaded handgun at the time of the arrest.

The Portland Police Department is asking for public assistance in gathering more information for this case and others.
