Holyoke police arrest 7 in anti-human trafficking operation

HOLYOKE — Members of the Holyoke Police Department Detective Unit, led by Captain Cruz, in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police High Risk Victim Unit directed by Det.

Lieutenant Turgeon, conducted a sting operation on Monday, April 22, to combat human trafficking in the city.

The joint operation resulted in the arrest of seven men on charges of soliciting sex for a fee.

The individuals apprehended in the sting include Jorge Lopez, 49, Jose Santiago, 68, Christopher Laines, 34, Josue Ortiz, 29, Sarom Soeng, 47, Guy Flathers, 72, and Joseph Fournier, 61.

Authorities state that initiatives like this are part of an ongoing effort to address the demand for sexual exploitation and will continue in the future.
