Driver arrested for DUI after Route 100 crash in Jamaica

JAMAICA — A single-vehicle crash early this morning on Route 100 led to the arrest of a Dover man on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Vermont State Police responded to a call at 1:09 a.m. reporting an accident involving a 2023 Toyota Tacoma with significant front-end damage.

The driver, identified as 25-year-old Charles Lanouette, had been transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries before troopers arrived on the scene.

Lanouette was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

During the investigation, police noted signs of intoxication.

After further examination at the hospital, Lanouette was arrested for DUI.

He was issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on June 25 at 8:30 a.m.

The Vermont State Police were supported at the crash site by the Jamaica and Wardsboro Fire Departments, Rescue Inc., and Scott Brooks Towing.
