Boston police arrest five, seize over 1,200 grams of drugs in raid

BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Units, in collaboration with the DEA Task Force, have apprehended five individuals on drug trafficking charges following an extensive investigation.

Jose Virella-Castro, 41, Jarlin Soto-Soto, 41, Alejandro Fernandez, 62, Michael Moreira, 57, and Rafael Puntier, 54, all from various neighborhoods in Boston, were arrested during the execution of search warrants on Saturday, April 20, at around 12:11 p.m.

The police operation targeted locations at 35 Northampton Street, 155 Eustis Street, and 161 W. Springfield Street.

The searches led to the recovery of an array of illegal substances and related paraphernalia.

Officers seized 459 plastic bags of crack cocaine, totaling approximately 253 grams, and 412 plastic bags of fentanyl, weighing around 980 grams.

Additionally, authorities found about $7,977 in cash, numerous plastic bags, gloves, masks, cutting agents, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects face charges for trafficking class A and class B substances and are scheduled for arraignment at Boston Municipal Court.
