New Jersey man cited for excessive speed in Manchester

MANCHESTER — Vermont State Police conducting traffic enforcement on US Route 7 late Wednesday night clocked a vehicle traveling at 90 mph in a 55 mph zone, leading to a citation for excessive speed for a New Jersey resident.

Alexander Ruiter, 36, of Brick, New Jersey, was identified as the driver during the stop near mile marker 37.4 at around 10:47 p.m.

Ruiter has been ordered to appear in Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on June 3 at 8:15 a.m. to respond to the charge.

In addition to the court summons, Ruiter received a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for Interstate Speed, which includes a penalty of 2 points on his driving record and a waiver fee of $530.
