Williamstown man charged with third DUI after traffic stop in Barre

BARRE — A 48-year-old Williamstown man was arrested and charged with his third DUI following a traffic stop on South Barre Road near VT 63 on April 17.

Vermont State Police Berlin troopers observed a vehicle committing a moving violation at approximately 3:24 p.m. and initiated a stop.

During the interaction with the driver, identified as Scott Macaskill, troopers noted several signs of impairment.

Macaskill was subjected to field sobriety tests, which he subsequently failed, leading to his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

He was processed at the Berlin Barracks and formally charged with his third DUI offense.

The Vermont State Police remind the public of the dangers of driving while impaired and encourage drivers to make safe choices on the roadways.
