DRACUT — Chief Peter Bartlett of the Dracut Police Department announced the safe resolution of an incident involving a barricaded individual earlier today.

On Wednesday, April 17, at about 8:06 a.m., officers responded to a call at a residence on Lillian Terrace.

The report indicated that an individual had forcibly entered the unoccupied home and was barricaded inside with a firearm.

Dracut Police enlisted the aid of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) to communicate with the person.

Negotiators were able to de-escalate the situation, leading to the individual’s peaceful surrender.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and no injuries were reported in the course of the event.

Chief Bartlett commended the officers and NEMLEC for their swift response and expert handling of the situation.

The Dracut Police Department is not releasing any additional information at this time.
