Westbrook police arrest two on drug, identity theft charges

WESTBROOK — Westbrook officers responded to a parking lot off Main Street Saturday morning after receiving reports of individuals passed out in a vehicle with a black cat on the dashboard.

Upon arrival at approximately 9:23 a.m., officers located the vehicle and were able to wake the occupants.

The subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a number of illegal drugs and suspected stolen identity information for over 30 individuals.

Michael Hills, a 40-year-old male transient, and Danielle Fitzgerald, a 33-year-old female from Concord, Massachusetts, were arrested and charged with unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, misuse of identification, and forgery.

Both Hills and Fitzgerald were transported to the Cumberland County Jail following their arrest.

The black cat, as well as a dog found in the vehicle, were taken into the care of the Animal Refuge League.
